MEMORANDUM Date: February 19, 2006 From: Grant Corley, Andrew Godbehere, Albert Ho Subject: Progress Report on Temperature Controllers Your grade: 90/100, a good report Summary This project’s goal is to develop an inexpensive method for maintaining the temperature of the Alexandrite laser developed by A&EP Lasers to a specified temperature between 30 and 100 degrees Celsius. We are currently experimenting with inexpensive thermistors that can be used in a temperature controller to maintain a temperature to an accuracy of ±3 degrees Celsius. To date, we have collected and analyzed calibration data for the thermistor. The remaining task in the project is to design and test the prototype temperature controller design, but we may be unable to meet the project specifications because of the poor quality of the lab equipment.? Is the equipment of poor quality, or does it need to be modified (e. g. a better heater)? Project Description This project’s goal is to develop an inexpensive method for maintaining the temperature of the Alexandrite laser developed by A&EP Lasers Inc. to a specified temperature between 30 and 100 degrees Celsius. The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
