Brian Hults Chemistry 1310 – G2 Post Lab 1 9/12/09 A. 1) If the manufacturer was aiming to put 1.0 grams of sweetener in each packet, then they were both accurate and precise since all the tested subjects were within a small margin of this value. If the manufacturer had been more specific and said that each packet was to contain 1.000 grams of sweetener, then they would have lost a significant amount of their accuracy since this value calls for a much smaller margin of error. Even with the more specific value the precision of the manufacturer is still good. 2) Although each balance is well maintained and both precise and accurate, they are not synchronized with each other. It is imperative that one balance be used during the duration of the lab to keep readings precise with each other since each balance will give a different value.
