*** Initial setup: Mac OS 10.5 has VNC otherwise install "Chicken of the VNC" In terminal (press apple-space, type "terminal"; you can put it in your dock): ssh user@planets.physics.ucf.edu Enter your login password Say yes to query about host Type 'vncpasswd' to set a VNC password (not login password) This should be a simple word that you might share. You will not see your password as you type it. Open .bashrc by using your favorite text editor Eg., 'emacs .bash_profile' Use arrow keys to scroll down to 'vncsrv ()' Edit listed screen resolution to be your laptop's screen resolution Eg., 1280x1024 If you don't know your resolution, ask for help Save and close .bash_profile Eg., Ctrl+s, ctrl+c Source the file by typing 'source .bashrc' Start VNC server by typing 'vncsrv' This may take a few seconds to complete. Get your session number using 'vncnum' logout In terminal (on Mac) mkdir -p ~/.ssh ~/bin chmod 700 ~/.ssh scp -p planets.physics.ucf.edu:/home/ast5765/configs/config ~/.ssh/config
