*** Initial setup: (WINDOWS VISTA) install realvnc install putty (http://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/latest/x86/putty.exe) In Putty Click on Session - Hostname = planets.ucf.edu - Connection = SSH Click on Connections -> Data - Enter your username in the auto-login field Click on Session Click â=³OpenâI² to connect Say yes to query about host Type â³´vncpasswdâ“H to set a VNC password (not login password) This should be a simple word that you might share. You will not see your password as you type it. Open .bashrc by using your favorite text editor Eg. âH³emacs .bashrcâ=³ Use arrow keys to scroll down to â²²alias vncsrv. ...â²² Edit listed screen resolution to <= your laptopâˆts screen resolution Eg. 1440x900 If you donâ²Ut know your resolution, ask for help Save and close .bashrc Eg. ctrl+x, ctrl+s, ctrl+x, ctrl+c Source the file by typing â²². .bashrcâ-³ Start VNC server by typing â²²vncsrvⲑ This may take a few seconds to complete.
