Claudia’s father inconsistently struggles to find work in manual labor, while her mother Paula works three nights a week at a local nail salon (Plummer, Makris, & Brocksen., 2014). When Claudia’s emotional issues arise,her mother Paula was cautious on locating therapy services for Claudia because of their undocumented status in the country and fear of being deported. Immigrant families living in the United States live in fear because local police implement control measures in everyday spaces of immigrant communities (Hagan, J., Rodriguez, N., & Castro, B. (2011). Immigrants also live in fear of separation from their family members (Hagan, J., Rodriguez, N., & Castro, B. (2011). Therefore, Paula was hesitant at first when locating services for her daughter Claudia.
