Evaluation of Exit Competencies Your performance is assessed  by an evaluation of do you  think and/or behave differently after taking the course than  you did before taking it! Are you aware of some of the main issues and situations that  create high-risk projects? Do you understand what to do about these? Do you understand how to select technologies or systems for  organizational fit? Can you write a management report (and executive summaries  of a situation) to communicate what you know to senior  management? Are you capable of seeing the forest for the trees? 1. Analyze “messy” problems in business organizations  and recommend IS solutions; 2. Appreciate the needs of a diverse set of users and  stakeholders in information systems change;  3. Recognize, avoid and solve common problems with  applications of IT in business organizations; 4. Develop the skills and organizational awareness to  participate knowledgably in planning and managing  successful information systems projects; 5. Competently prepare a written report on the  organizational implications of deploying information  systems in a situation with which they are unfamiliar.

Requirements There are two major assignments for this course:  a midterm paper and an end of term paper.  You will produce  incremental drafts  of each assignment paper,  adding material from the case discussed in class each week. You should submit and discuss a “filled in” outline for your paper to  the WIT by the end of week 3,  looking ahead to anticipate issues  that will arise in weeks 4 and 5 , and  outlining examples that you will  use You will be expected to meet again with the Writing Intensive Tutor  (WIT), to review and improve each  term paper,  at least  one week  before the paper submission date. You must submit both WIT feedback sheets , completed and dated,
