Immigration 3-4 million children are in fact citizens. What do we do with them? Do we break up families, do we deport citizens? 2 souls of the US towards immigration 1. the US has been very welcome for immigration. With whatever problems there are, we tend to be the more welcoming country compared to to others. 2. The US has been very xenophobic and critical towards immigration. It changes over time and both have an impact at the same time. Rom 1900-30, the issue of immigration from the south was not much of an issue at all. There were points of debate and xenophobia, but we didn’t have a border patrol until the late 1920’s. we just didn’t care. In the 30’s “voluntary” repatriotization was done were Mexicans were deported. The bracero program was made where Mexicans where brought to California to work the fields during the war. it was very abused. People were stolen from, and it was ended in the early 60’s. it established a circular migration- come here to work for a few months
