STAT LAB 4B: Independent Groups T-Test: testing difference between two groups: 1. Open SPSS program 2. Open the data file “Personality” from your flash drive REMINDER: Personality Type (Introvert vs. Extrovert) and Background noise (Quiet vs. Noisy) is related to Test Scores on a 15-item comprehension task. There are a total of 48 (N=48) participants – 24 males and 24 females. 3. Click on the “Analyze” on the menu bar and then select “Compare Means”: “Independent-Sample T test” 4. Select the variable (i.e. the dependent variables – “ Scores ”) into the “Test Variable” box 5. Select a Grouping Variable (i.e. the independent variables “ PERSTYPE ” and GENDER” ) NOTE : you can only select ONE independent/grouping variable AT A TIME ; therefore, to complete your analysis, you will need to repeat the same set of steps for your 2 nd variable 6. Click on the “Define Groups” button and in the Define Groups window enter 0 next to the Group 1 and 1 next to the Group 2. NOTE:
