StatLab 6A: Chi-Square: Goodness of Fit 1. A researcher wants to test the belief that the full moon affects behavior. He collected data on the number of clients admitted into a hospital unit per lunar phase over a one-year period. A sample of 80 cases were categorized according to the moon’s lunar phase at the time of admission, of which there are four: New Moon, First Quarter, Full Moon, Third Quarter. 2. Enter SPSS program and create a new data set. 3. There is only one variable: Number of Hospital Admissions (e.g. “ Admissns ”). 4. Use 1 - to record each admission under the New Moon (10 observations) 2 - to record each admission under the First Quarter (32 observations) 3 - to record each admission under the Full Moon (32 observations) 4 – to record each admission under the Third Quarter (6 observations) (Label what the numbers represent in the values section of the “Variable View” window).
