Amanda Thomann English 101(Fri) Stewart 10-12-07 My mother, sister, and a high school basketball coach played influential roles in my life. With all three, I had experiences that will forever change not only how I view the future, but what steps in life I will take to get there. Looking back, I find that the many little events that have occurred in my life have sculpted me into who I am today. My mom’s bad parenting example, taught me that to be a good parent, I shouldn’t follow her example. She was rarely around when I was young, and missed almost all of my birthdays as a child. I didn’t even talk on the phone to her from my ninth to eleventh birthday, let alone see her. Prior to that, when she was around, she would make me and my older sisters turn on our water or power illegally. The police or rental agencies were constantly knocking on our door. It felt like I was always hiding out from someone. Not only were we being forced into illegal situations, but when she wasn’t at home, my mom was out committing other crimes too. Not too
