Arthur Schlesinger assumes that preventive and preemptive war is one in the same. He also assumes that the reader will agree with him as far as the type of administration we have running the country right now. 2. Arthur Schlesinger, Jr., is a historian, former aide to President John F. Kennedy, and a Pulitzer Prize-winning author. 3. Schlesinger is not in support of preemptive war. He gives an 4. Arthur Schlesinger is trying to show us that the future is not set in stone and that anything is possible. He shows that we would be the aggressor if we were to take action on Iraq. 5. Schlesinger begins by saying that preventive war is now being called preemptive war and that the government claims that if we do not act today, something terrible will happen tomorrow. He jokingly compares Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld to character in the movie Minority Report who can see a crime before it happens.
