The writers from Time magazine claims that the definition of torture that is now used by the United States is immoral to some people. 2. Brian Bennett, Perry Bacon Jr., Timothy J. Burger, Mathew Cooper, Elaine Shannon, Mark Thompson and Mitch Frank are all writers from Time magazine. The article is written three years after 9/11. 3. The Time writers give a factual and evaluative claim by giving specific information and dates as to the events that they are reporting. 4. The main problem addressed in the article is what the definition of torture is and who makes the rules on changing that definition. 5. Starting out we learn that there are people who play a role in changing the rules on torture (Bennett, et al). Twice in twenty-eight months the rules on torture had been amended. Techniques were implemented that would not cause major injury or death but were still extremely severe. After 9/11 the U.S. followed the old rules of war which were outlined in the Geneva Convention and the Convention Against Torture. Shortly following, the President spoke of using the methods available to reach our goal. After hundreds of prisoners were sent to Guantanamo Bay for interrogation, they were considered to be “unlawful” and that term makes
