Heredity and Hormones 2 Heredity and Hormones are alike in some ways and are different in some ways. Heredity we cannot change and they are set. Hormones we can change through exercise, diet, and environment. Hormones can rule our behaviors like anxiety, depression, excitement, and moods. Hormones can affect our behavior and genes give us different heredity characteristics. Consider genetics as our start when we are born and hormones are the structure, the overall makeup. We can direct our hormones to act a certain way. If we eat too much sugar or drink too much caffeine, our body can show forms of irritation or jitteriness. If we do not exercise our body can show forms of fatigue and depression. Eating more vegetables can help stress. Some people would love to be able to change genetics though.
