What was definitely new about the Protestant conception of the call relative to the ancient, medieval or contemporary Catholics views? - 1 st one distinguished the Protestant from Catholic: There are calling the people have that are not religious. 2 nd one is that what is deemed the highest expression of morality occurs with ones calling. . 2. How might Luther have responded to the likes of Franklin? Why might Luther’s conception of the calling be called traditional? How important is Luther’s conception of the calling to Weber? To what did Catholicism look as its real enemy? - Luther would have rejected the words of Franklin. His conception would be traditionalist because the Bible emphasizes that everyone should earn their own living and leave the godless to run after profit; you are born a peasant if you take a traditionalistic Lutheran view, you will die a peasant. Luther’s conception is impractical because it is traditionalist. Calvinism is Catholics real enemy. 3.
