Karen BarillasMarch 1st, 2020SSR #2Tests are an important way to see how students are understanding the material that is being delivered by the teacher, and it allows teachers to see where their students are. As Cizek said in the journal, “tests capture only a small portion of what could be observed, and the interpretation of test results requires making an inference from the observed performance to the larger domain of interest.” With tests, you cannot really see everything that the student is understanding of what is being taught, only a small portion of it. If the student did well on the test, that is a big indicator that the student understands the material. If the student did not do so well, maybe the student didn’t study for the test, or maybe they didn’t understand the material and didn’t find ways to seek help. Knowing which students need help is a huge way to get them the help that they need, so that they are able to succeed in other grades. Within
