Noel Mejia SOCI 131 November 4, 2009 Williams Key concepts: Sexual harassment- “In a court of law, the victim of sexual harassment must show that she (or he) was treated differently than were the men (or the women) who were similarly situated, and consequently suffered a loss of opportunities or benefits” (Williams, 76) Consensual relationship- “those reflecting positive and autonomous expressions of workers. sexual desire” (Williams, 78) Discussion questions: Why is sexual harassment difficult to define in concrete terms? Because sometimes the aspects that define sexual harassment are overlapped with the aspects that define sexual consent. The reading shows that when some jobs require flirtation or the toleration of sexual advances, sexual harassment can be hard to define in these context. In what types of jobs are sexual relationships between employees and customers/clients prohibited? In jobs that are associated with the clergy, the military, and in many business jobs. Retail jobs.
