Unformatted text preview: Health Teacher Day Time Branch TA Class Max Resources needed: Marker, eraser, prints of texts in annex. Aim: By the end of this will acquaint stage, students and teacher will be acquainted. Stage: Ice breaker Page: - Time: 5-7 mins. Method: 5 words on board. Teacher says his name then writes 5 words on the board and gets students to ask him questions about these words (is this your sister, do you live here?). Once students guessed all the words right, its their turn to go on the board. Comments Aim: By the end of this stage, students will be familiarized with the topic and interest will have been created. Stage: Warm-up Page: - Time: 5 mins Method: Brainstorming/ experience Teacher divides the class in groups of 3-4 students. Teacher asks students to individually write everything that comes to their minds when thinking about health. Everyone share what theyve got. Teacher writes everything on the board and ask further questions (bad experiences related to bad health, loss of loved ones) Comments Aim: By the end of this stage, students will scan major health sub-topics (exercise, obesity, smoking and alcohol, bad health) and will have been introduced to vocab needed for following activity. Stage: Practice Page: - Time: 10-15 mins Method: Loud reading/gap filling T asks s one by one to read the 2 texts (What is it to be fit? Ways of staying healthy) T asks if any unknown words then explains, demonstrates and drills them. Give gap fill activity Ccq for meaning. Comments Aim: By the end of this stage, students will be familiar with health through a reading activity. Stage: Practice Page: - Time: 10-15 mins Method: Reading activity: Students ccq Teacher divides the class in groups and assigns 2 parts of the texts to each group and gives them time to read them. 1 part is A one is B. The A of one team is the B of another. Teacher explains they have to ask 3 questions about A and will have to answer 3 about B. Once ready 1 st group asks their questions to the 2 nd group. So on until everyone have asked and replied. Follow-up questions about opinions, feelings about text. Comments Aim: By the end of this stage, students will have practiced talking skills through a brainstorming activity. Stage: Pres./pract. Page: Time: 5 mins Method: Brainstorming activity Teacher asks students what they think they can do to have a healthy lifestyle. Teacher writes everything on the board. Teacher helps and gives additional ideas that havent been brought up by students. Comments Aim: By the end of this stage, students will have presented their project about adopt a healthy lifestyle.
