When 2.23x10 -2 moles of this compound react with excess oxygen gas, 0.803 g of water is produced. Identify the element X. 3. A solution of permanganate (MnO 4 - ) is standardized by titration with oxalic acid (H 2 C 2 O 4 ), producing carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) and manganese ion (Mn 2+ ). It required 28.97 mL of the permanganate solution to react completely with 0.1058 g of oxalic acid. What is the Molarity of the permanganate solution? 4. Consider a mixture of potassium chloride and potassium nitrate that is 43.2% potassium by mass. What is the percent KCl by mass of the original mixture? 5. Consider the reaction of 19.0 g zinc with excess silver nitrate to produce silver metal and zinc nitrate. The reaction is stopped before all the zinc metal has reacted and 29.0 g of solid metal is present. Calculate the mass of each metal in the final 29.0 g mixture. 6. A solid sample is a mixture of AgNO 3 , CuCl 2 and FeCl 3 . When a 1.0000 g sample of this mixture is dissolved in water and reacted with excess silver nitrate, 1.7809 g of precipitate forms. When a separate 1.0000 g sample of this solution is treated with a reducing agent all of the metal ions in the mixture are reduced to pure neutral metals. The total mass of the pure metals produced is 0.4684 g. Calculate the mass percent of AgNO 3 , CuCl 2 , and FeCl 3 in the original mixture. 7.
