Wednesday, February 18, 2009 Modern state is one that has legitimacy to use for political power o Last time either country held election was in 2005 The Germans held the election on September 18 th and Japan held their election on September 11 th Both elections were precipitated o Precipitated election is one that was held before it was due Koizumi came to power around the year 2000, and he can be considered as an outsider in Japan He came to power because people had become dissatisfied with the L.D.P He was not seen as a typical person in this party so when he came to power it was seen as a fresh beginning He decided to reform the Japanese post office (post office in Japan is a place similar to a savings bank; second biggest employer in Japan to the military) Ran against his own party causing him to become very popular and win by a landslide Only stayed in office for one year and then resigned in 2007 Germany held their elections on September 18 th
