Finance 5108, TUCC Fall 2009 Derivatives Instructor: Bruce B. Rader Office Hours: Tuesday 2:00-3:00 PM Main campus or by appointment Main Campus Alter Hall 430 Central: (215) 204-5231 Email: [email protected] The objective of this course is to introduce the student to Options and Futures, their market structure, their theoretical foundations and their uses. In this course we will deal with both the practical and theoretical considerations of the uses of these instruments. Current events play an important part in the understanding these markets. It is therefore important that the student be familiar with these events. It is expected that the student will follow the financial news using one of the many possible news sources. Class discussion of current events will be encouraged. All exams will be essay or problem format. There will be two mid-term exams and a comprehensive final . In addition to the exams there will be a class project. Each student will be required to set up a Stock-Trak account (forms to be
