Describe the process of how the kidneys nephrons regulated the Glomerular Filtration Rate. 7.2 –FILTRATION, REABSORPTION, AND SECRETION 7.2.1 – Filtration Describe the overall processes of filtration, reabsorption, secretion, and excretion. o Kidneys filter blood. Blood passes through the afferent arterioles and continues into the glomerulus. Eventually, blood will be filtered through the fenestrated endothelium, basement membrane, and visceral layer. The filtration will flow into the Bowman’s capsule to enter the nephron. Explain what the Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) is. Measuring rate of kidney filtering blood. o What is the normal GFR range? 125 mL Plasma/minute o How does blood pressure change the GFR?
Describe how autoregulation of the afferent and efferent arterioles work to maintain the proper pressure in the Glomerulus. Draw your own diagram to show this process.
