BI379 F09 Exam 2 November 18, 2009 Finished exam is due by 5 PM on Monday, November 23. Please write it on the computer (not by hand). You may send it in by e-mail. I. I'm going to reverse the process we've been doing with papers. Normally, I pick a paper and ask you questions about it. Now, I want you to find a paper for me. The main effort for this problem will be finding a good (and understandable) paper. The assignment: Find a paper that discusses the association of some SNP with disease. If you don't want to do a disease, you can also find any other type of SNP study. Read the paper and briefly summarize their conclusions (also, you must email me or print out a copy of the paper). For this assignment, I suggest you use PubMed (from NCBI). They've recently changed their format, but you can do advanced searches (and so limit by keyword or journal, such as Cell, Nature, Evolution, Development, etc) and date, author, etc as well. Now, you may not have access for all journals, especially if you are not doing this on campus through the Colby College library. The summary is important, but the exercise is more about the search.
