As result of the class the student will improve his/her general physical fitness and skill performance. Principles, techniques, safe practices and strategies of racquetball will be taught throughout the class. Relationship to Other Courses This is a basic activity course in the Sport, Fitness, and Health Program. It is open to any student at The Ohio State University. There are no prerequisites for this course. Course Objectives The student will be able to: Perform the fundamental forehand and backhand strokes. Demonstrate a variety of serves. Execute basic strategies in game situations. Successfully engage in racquetball game play and know where and how to continue involvement in racquetball in the community. Demonstrate knowledge of single games, rules, etiquette, strategy and safety. Explain and engage in three different approaches to the game: cooperative, challenging, and competitive. Explain the basic strategies utilized in game situations. Off Campus Field Experience This course does not have an off-campus field experience. Diversity The curriculum and experience is designed, implemented, and evaluated in a manner that promotes the acquisition and application of knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to help all students learn. 4.21.09

2 Technology The use of web technology will be employed in this course for the dissemination of course materials such as syllabus, handouts and course notes. Additional means of communication between the instructor and students is available through the use of web-based email.
