Idiopathic FLUTD Occurrence mainly younger cats, 1-5 yo. Both male and female, males more likely to obstruct Colder weather Clinical signs— non-obstructed --dysuria, pollakiuria, hematuria, inappropriate urination, licking of penis, perineal area obstructed -as above, but progresses to increase in straining, little or no urine passes. signs of uremia develop if obstruction persists 36-48 hrs.

FLUTD Note : cannot determine obstruction/non- obstruction reliably from description. These cats should be seen ASAP. Laboratory Non-obstructed cats may have no abnormal lab values, or just hematuria Obstructed cats—may have BUN, creatinine, metabolic acidosis, hyperkalemia
