Total duration 80 minutes. The examination will be marked out of 30. All calculations to be done according to NBC 2005.. State your assumptions whenever applicable. v Consider Figure 1 which presents plan and elevation views of a building used for storage of road deicing material. The structure is of low importance categom. It is located in Laval next to. Highway 13. The self-weight of the roof covering is 0.5 kPa. The building is windowless and has one door at each end, 6.0 m wide x 5.0 m high. The cross section shows a typical steel portal frame. Dimensions are in mm. ALL THE FOLLOWING CALCULATIONS WILL BE DONE FOR A TYPICAL INTERIOR FRAME. Part 1 Gravity loads — D, S, L (8 marks) Determine and show on a sketch the factored loading diagram(s) to consider for the ultimate limit states gravity load design of a typical interior frame._ Part 2 Wind loads - W (12 marks) Use the simplified static procedure described in NBC 2005 —— Calculate service loads. a) Calculate the external wind pressure loads to be resisted by a typical interiorframe of the building. Show the loading diagrams. (10 marks) b) Calculate the internal wind pressure load, considering a Category 1. Show the loading diagram(s).
