Consider the perfectly conducting cylinder shown in the figure below. Assume that its height to radius ratio is very large, i.e., d a >> 1. It carries a φ directed uniform surface current, whose total value is I . z a r d I φ (a) Find the magnetic field H that exists inside the cylinder. (b) Find the inductance of this cylinder. (c) Find the electric field E that exists inside the cylinder if the current is a sinusoidal current of amplitude I . Assume that quasi static approximation holds. In other words you can assume that the solution in the time varying case is the same as the static solution which varies at the same frequency as the current frequency. (d) Assume a cylindrical volume of height d and radius r inside this cylindrical conductor. Apply the instantaneous Poynting's theorem to this cylindrical volume. Write explicit expressions to all the terms that appear in the Poynting's theorem such as the power flux through the surface … etc.
