KIN 315 Motor Learning Fall 2009 Name Lab 1: Measuring Error Purpose : To practice measuring movement and to learn the differences among absolute error, constant error and variable error. Equipment : A plastic ruler, blindfold, pen and paper. Procedure : The class will first be paired up. Within each pair, take turns being the subject and experimenter. One partner will be in Group 1 and one Partner will be in Group 2. The task for each subject is to draw a 10 cm line while blindfolded, either with or without verbal feedback from the experimenter. To begin each trial, the experimenter will guide the subject's pen to a starting point and then the subject will draw a straight line using the ruler as a guide (so the line is straight and easy to measure). Group1: Subjects in this group will view a 10 cm line that is drawn on the page for 10 seconds and then while blindfolded the subject will attempt to replicate the length of the line by drawing a 10 cm line on the paper.
