Unformatted text preview: Version 2.0 Sept. 9, 2005 Deliver on client expectations by building a comprehensive quality plan Everyone wants to build a quality solution. You may not get the entire budget that you expect, but you typically try to build the best solution you can with the available funding. Unfortunately, many projects fall short of client expectations simply because the project manager didn't think ahead about how he or she was going to manage quality on the project. That's where the quality plan comes into play. It identifies the client's expectations for quality and spells out the project manager's plan to meet those expectations. It's created during the planning phase to validate that the major deliverables are completed with an acceptable level of quality. The quality plan encompasses three major processes: Completeness and correctness criteria: The project team and major stakeholders should agree upfront on when each major deliverable is complete and correct. The deliverables are then evaluated against these criteria before they are formally approved. Quality assurance: Quality assurance activities focus on the processes being used to manage and deliver the solution and can be performed by an IS manager, business sponsor, or third-party reviewer. Quality control: Quality control activities are performed continually throughout a project to verify that project management and project deliverables are of high quality.
