Ok to use mature mechanisms, four groups i. “Psychotic”: Denial & Delusions 1. Escaping to a different reality 2. We can’t just say something & do away with reality ii. “Immature”: Projection & Hypochondriasis 1. Can’t always use these things to get attention iii. “Neurotic”: Isolation & Displacement 1. Don’t let our problems get blown out of proportion, not such bad methods iv. “Mature”: Sublimination, Humor, & Suppression 1. Good to channel negative energy into something positive, suppression is ok because you’re postponing but you can always return to it Processes?
