The mean is 10.40, the median is 7.2, the lower quartile is 2.5, and the upper quartile is 15.72. The mean is greater than the median and the lower quartile is closer to the median than the upper quartile. 2.

9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 25 20 15 10 5 0 Over75 Frequency Histogram of Over75 The distribution of the percentages of people over 75 in the 50 states would appear to be symmetric. The Mean is 6.226, the median is 6.300, the lower quartile is 5.700, and the upper quartile is 6.825. The mean is about the same as the median and the lower quartile is slightly farther from the median than the upper quartile. 3. When there is skewness, the values of the mean and median are not equal or similar. Also, skewness causes the lower and upper quartiles to not be similarly distant from the median—one quartile will be closer to the median than the other quartile. 4.
40 30 20 10 0 50 40 30 20 10 0 AsAm Frequency Histogram of AsAm The distribution is skewed to the right and there is one outlier of 40. The mean is 3.426, the median is 2.000, the Standard Deviation is 5.730, and the IQR is 2.425. 5. Hawaii has the largest percentage of Asian-Americans, which is 40 percent. The Mean and the Standard Deviation are strongly affected by the outlier, with the mean not as much affected as the Standard Deviation. The mean is 2.680, median is 2.000, Standard Deviation is 2.253, and the IQR is 2.350. 6. The average Unemployment rate is much higher in the South than that of the other three regions while the Northeast has the lowest average Unemployment rate among the four regions. The Midwest and West have similar average Unemployment rates although the Midwest numerically is slightly higher. Among the four regions, the
