Many Southern Baptist took an issue with some of these shifts which led to the Southern Baptist Convention studying the original Baptist Faith and Message. A couple of shifts to note were those that included the doctrine of salvation and that of the Bible. The first few Chapters of The Making ofthe 1963 Baptist Faith and Messagego into detail about the issues leading up to the developmentof a Committee to review the Baptist Faith and Message. Chapters 4 and 5 tackle the issues of authority, confessional accountability, and soul liberty. The author(s) spend much time highlighting the dichotomy of interpretation and confessionalism.
