Liang 1 Aileen Liang Ms. LaRosa English 9H, Period 5 28 October 2009 Costume/Dress In England, the Elizabethan Era refers to a period under reign of Queen Elizabeth. Also known as the Golden Age, it was the peak of fashion changes and styles. Costume may perhaps have been the most important aspect in the Elizabethan culture. Clothing in the Elizabethan Era was noted for its extravagant details and brought self expression to people who wore it. Elizabethan clothing also provided important status information about a person and a reflection of their social standing. Costumes always were known for having elaborate designs and exaggerated accessories. Men and women alike were always concerned in wearing the most fashionable outfits. These outfits also influenced the poor, although they weren’t as striking. However, there were laws to maintain, and penalties for violating these specific laws were harsh, like death.
