Briefly summarize the case (2-3 sentences). This case was about Continental Carriers Inc., who was looking for ways to finance their acquisition of Midland Fright, Inc. CCI had always stayed away from long term debt, but their treasurer was proposing that they attempt to do so. The directors, however, primarily disagreed, seeing that such debt would bring $12.5 million in maturity and therefore, risk. Common stock seemed much better, as did preferred stock, which she was told to look into. 2. What methods of financing are available for CCI for the acquisition of Midland Freight, Inc? Although they had a history of avoiding it, CCI was looking into debt through bonds to finance the acquisition. They were also considering issuing new common stock, along with preferred stock. 3. How has CCI historically financed its needs?
