COURSE NUMBER AND TITLE ACT 5744 – CPA Regulation Review Course Barbara Landau, J.D., LL.M. (Tax) B. COURSE DESCRIPTION Regulation Review: The course is an intensive review of topics found in business law and individual and corporate and partnership taxation classes. By the end of this course the student should be able to: (1) understand the concepts of business law, including: agency and contracts (2) be able to calculate individual taxes, (3) be able to calculate corporate taxes, and (4) understand the concepts of estate and gift taxes. C. TEXTBOOK(S) Course materials need to be ordered in accordance with the instructions on the Syllabus, and with any instructions that you may have received from the Accounting Program Office. Please contact the Accounting Program Office if you have any questions.

D. MEETING DATES AND TIMES This class meets on the following Friday nights from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the following Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon: July 10 and 11; July 24 and 25; August 7 and 8; and August 21 and 22. (The midterm is scheduled for July 25, and the final is scheduled for August 22). E. COURSE ACTIVITIES TO MEET OBJECTIVES DISCUSSION AND CLASS PARTICIPATION  Each student is expected to participate in discussions of the assigned chapters and problems.   MIDTERM AND FINAL EXAMINATIONS  There will be a midterm examination and a final examination. Details are provided below.   COMPOSITION OF GRADE The various components of the course will be applied to your final grade as follows: 1. Participation in Class 10% 3. Midterm Exam 45% 4. Final Exam 45% GRADING SCALE – See Syllabus.
