1. Explain the US policy of containment abroad. What were the economic, military, and political strategies of enforcing containment? After the successful defeat of the axis powers in WWII the us government stood firmly behind the belief that communism was a serious threat to all free societies and subsequently must be contained. The us government attempted to accomplish this by incorporating and executing several strategies. One of the most successful strategies for enforcing containment abroad was the Wagner plan. This was the primary plan for the us for rebuilding and creating a stronger foundation for the countries of Western Europe and repelling communism. The us government knew however that the soviet union would not participate since certain stipulations required that financial books must be opened and only us corporations could be acquired for the rebuilding process. Also, congress certainly wouldn’t have approved sending large amounts of money to the soviets. This is a good example of economic
