REQUIRED TEXT: Hitt, Ireland, and Hoskisson, Strategic Management , South-Western, 8 th ed., 2009 COURSE DESCRIPTION: Capstone course involving integration of previous education in business. Analysis of complex policy problems at the overall management level, involving such functional areas as production, finance, and marketing as influenced by the larger economic, political, and social environment. COURSE CONTENT: 1. Strategic factors: long-, mid-, short-range goals. 2. Policy determination as a means of reducing risk and uncertainty in the total system. 3. Structural factors – organizing for policy implementation and control. 4. Corporate strategies and their influence on division and department strategies. 5. Public, social, supplier, and customer impact on company policy. 6. Influence of the specific industry’s environment on company policy. 7.
