Michael Kjome March 16, 2009 Argument Research Paper Cheaters Never Prosper For many of us the word education has a simple meaning. Defined by Merriam-Webster English Dictionary in two parts: 1: (a) the action or process of educating or of being educated; also: a stage of such a process. (b) The knowledge and development resulting from an educational process. 2: the field of study that deals mainly with methods of teaching and learning in schools. Now with the advent of Computers and the World Wide Web, Electronic Learning also known as Computer Based Learning has taken a dominating role in the classrooms of higher education. E Learning has been defined as the pedagogy empowered by digital technology. According to the Sloan Report based on a poll of academic scholars, in 2006, nearly 3.5 Million students were participation in on-line learning at institutions of higher education in the United States and this statistic is only expected to continue to grow.
