Pomi 1 Marc Pomi Professor Walsh 3/14/2007 “My Gender Expectations” My expectation as a male; I guess that would be a hard question to answer. It’s hard to answer the question because of different influences. Socially, physically, and even my self view of what a male should be change drastically. Socially, other people must consider what an acceptable male is, physically is also another social aspect I suppose, and mentally males should have a specific mind set. Each aspect spills into another but generally speaking the differences are notable. A male’s expectation differs mentally, socially, and physically. Mentally a male must have many characteristics. Though unreal expectations are created sometimes, the ideal male will have many characteristics that make the expectation much different. Mentally a male must be tough. This is a vital because a man can not look weak, a man must be strong. Society provides the constant reinforcement of either stay strong or you will fail which, reiterates the idea of staying strong.
