Marc Pomi PHY 127 L05 Introduction : The purpose of this lab was to find electric field lines and equipotentials. T heory : If the lines of equipotential are drawn we can find the electric field lines by using perpendicular lines. A sketch of the equipotential lines will show where to draw the perpendicular lines. Procedure : Equipment : 3 Carbonized Acetate Sheets, 1 Dry Cell Battery, 1 Digital Voltmeter, 2 Voltage Probes Steps : 1. Place one terminal to each side of an acetate sheet.

Record the lines for several different spots. 4. Repeat for the other two acetate sheets. 5. After sketch the electric field lines assuming they are perpendicular to the equipotential lines.
