Marc Pomi PHY 134 Lab Session Monday 12:50-2:50 PM Abstract : The purpose of this lab is to be familiarized with the oscilloscope for future labs. WE will measure the voltage of a battery and view different patterns of a function generator. Procedure : Equipment : Oscilloscope, 2 function generators, Dry Cell Battery Steps : 1. Connect the battery to channel 1 on the oscilloscope. Utilizing 60 Hz AC power and line triggering mode measure the voltage of the battery. 2. Connect the function generator to channel 1. Set the frequency to 1 kHz sine wave and set the oscilloscope to DC coupling mode. Observe the figure on the screen and determine the amplitude and period. 3. Switch the triggering from positive to negative and observe the inverse functions. Switch the function generator from a sine wave, to triangle, to square. 4. Connect the second function generator to channel 2 and set the frequency to 0.4 kHz. Also, set the first generator to 0.5 kHz. Trigger off of either channel to observe only one channel is stable at a time. 5.
