Kacy Grady Recitation I have been with my boyfriend for almost two years now and I believe I have experience every one of Baxter’s dialects. The most recent I can think of would be the autonomy/connection dialect. This dialect refers to ones need to connect with others and the simultaneous need to feel independent or autonomous. I just recently moved into a one-bedroom apartment and have no roommates. Last year, I lived with four other people and was constantly spending the night at my boyfriend’s house, practically living together. I guess it was because it was the first year that we were independent from any kind of dorm room situation and able to live on our own; we were able to make forward progress in our relationship just by living together and being in each others company all the time. This year, however, now that I live on my own, I feel like I need my apartment to be able to get away from everyone/thing for a little. I still want to have that connection with others, but I also like a place to retreat on my own. My
