He traveled all over the United States, and the journey he ventured on to find himself, captured my heart. From the very first page to the last page of my uncle’s battered copy of On the Road by Jack Kerouac, I was in deep awe with the yellowed pages and the fine print of the enticing words. Kerouac did what no people could ever do… he dropped everything, and went onto living his life to the fullest. You seldom witness a person letting go of their sacred everyday life routine to start a life on the road. Even I am afraid to let go of familiarity and step into a world where anything can happen. Kerouac’s honest words deepened my spirit and soul, and made me thirst for more in life. As of right now, I don’t have the courage to ever do something as free-spirited as Kerouac. But I like to think that someday, I could do something as gutsy as venturing off on and laying a path for my journey. On a small scale, I feel that’s what I’m soon bound to leave everything I once knew. As a
