Wooree Kim 1440 Paterson Plank Road Secaucus, New Jersey 07094 Mrs. Carlson Reading I’m the original Matilda Wormwood except my parents love me, and I do not have super powers. Even before I learned how to take my first steps into the world, I always had a book clenched in my tiny fists. Like Linus and his periwinkle security blanket, I had books with me everywhere I went. Aged photos prove my love for books in the aged albums of days long gone. In one photo, I am reading The Baby-Sitter’s Club while I am fast asleep. To me books were my lullabies. As soon as I read a book, my eyes would flutter asleep as I dreamt of realms beyond me. Everyone has childhood stories, and if there’s one story my mom is always retelling me it is, “… ever since you were young, you always read to me, even if it was gibberish I always listened. You barely knew your alphabet.” Once I stopped tinkering with toys and I grew out of Legos, Play-Doh, and Candy Land, books became my new territory. Books always fit effortlessly in my hands and were a perfect fit.
