Kim, 2 Wooree Kim Ms. Williams Experiments in Writing 8 January 2009 Genetically Modified Food: Safe or Harmful? Genetically Modified plants are a product of the expanding 21 st century technology. It is a topic that has just surfaced; therefore, many Americans are unaware of the benefits of GM plants and what benefits they hold for many consumers. Scientists have the power to make fruits and vegetables full of fortifying vitamins and act as a vaccine against common ailments. GM foods will provide our nation with abundant amounts of vegetables and fruits, enhance various fruits and vegetables, and a great assistance to developing nations. As many Americans know, crops are prone to pesticides and diseases. Genetically Modified crops will eliminate this factor and make plants resistant to threatening diseases and pests. Fewer crops would be destroyed if these plants were genetically altered. Although pesticides can be helpful since they eliminate locusts and fungal pests, when there is a heavy rainfall on crops that are sprayed
