BIOL 1010 “Biological Science” Fall 2009 Lab 4 – Population Genetics - Beetles https://moodle09.yorku.ca/moodle/ Supplemental Student Lab Notes Page 1 of 5 LAB 4 – Population Genetics - Beetles Supplemental Student Lab Notes REMINDERS YOU ARE IN THE BIOLOGY COMPUTER LAB (formerly Glade) – Room 160 Chemistry Building Read ALL of Laboratory 4 , “Population Genetics - Beetles”. Complete pre-lab readings outlined at start of Lab 4 Complete all pre-lab exercise questions on page 4:1, 4:2 and 4:3. These will help you with your report. You can start looking for and collecting relevant literary resources (e.g. journal articles) that you can use in your report. o Write down any questions, and ask your TA during Lab 4. o REMEMBER , it is important (and expected) that you read and understand lab notes/directions and associated readings prior to attending each lab. Pre-lab exercises should also be completed before lab. Preparing for labs is an important aspect of your scientific career, as it tends to facilitate your understanding of the material and as such can help you achieve a higher grade. It is highly recommended, and to your benefit, to schedule time for lab preparation. Lab Safety (LB109, LB110, or computer labs). These items must be discarded prior to entering any laboratory. Cell phones must be turned off. Laptops must be off and away. LAB 4 – ASSIGNMENT – EXPANDED LABORATORY REPORT Lab 4 is weighted out of 12 MARKS. DUE DATE: Your laboratory report is due within two weeks of executing Lab 4, and must be submitted by the start time of your executed lab. Therefore, if you conducted Lab 4 in a lab that started at 2:30pm, your lab is due by 2:30pm. Early submissions can be submitted to your TAs drop box (in hall down from Lumbers 109/110). If you do NOT have another lab within two weeks you MUST submit your report to your TAs drop box (in the hall down from Lumbers 109/110)by the appropriate time. If you attend a makeup lab , your report is due within two weeks of completing your makeup lab and is submitted to the “makeup” lab drop box(in hall down from Lumbers 109/110). If you are unable to attend school on the due date, and have yet to submit the assignment, the report is still due in hard copy form by the due date and time. Late penalty is 10% per day. Note: if the final submission time of your report is 2:30pm, any submissions after this time (even a couple minutes) are considered late.
