24/09/2009 10:32:00 KT Mass extinction- found a lot of information in sock quartz inside the clay layer.  Happened during Mezozaic and pezozaic era Many dinosaurs and fossils has resemblance for a few 1000 years after kt  boundary was formed. Maybe another disaster happened? Age 65MYA (SAME AS KT EXTINCTION) Deccan Flood Basalts - So much basalt magma released in a massive volcano eruption with a massive  flood as well. Massive Acid rain happened and help with mass extinction. Is it possible that the impact created flood and basalt eruption? Anti total hypothesis - is the idea that        Meteorite Energy would crack open lithosphere and open asthenosphere would rise into crack (Very difficult to test this idea) (elegant idea  not good or bad until proven) Second mass extinction:  Permian extinction: most lost of life more the 95% lost lives. 25MYA What produces? One idea 250 MYA (think about vegners idea of pangea)
