Before you complete your application please read this letter, the acknowledgement and the helpful tips provided to assist you in completing the application. John Gyles Education Awards are available each year to students in both Canada and the United States. They are the result of a private, benevolent endeavor established in 1990. Those selected will receive up to $3,000.00. Several scholarships are awarded directly to students and a list of recipients is available at the end of each calendar year. To apply for a scholarship applicants must be enrolled full-time at (or accepted to) a college or university program as an undergraduate or graduate student. (High school seniors, and others, may apply pending acceptance.) Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 (or similar grade assessment) and must also have citizenship in either the United States or Canada. No preference is given to students from either country. Additional criteria are listed on the application form. Please return your application as soon as possible. Applications must be mailed (post- marked by regular mail) no later than June 1 st , 2009 to meet the next deadline. In response to previous requests, each applicant can now receive a written reply after June 20th, 2009 along with access to a new, easy-to-use program which explains some great alternative ways to fund your education in these difficult times. Please include $8.00 to cover costs. This is not mandatory, however it is noted with instructions on the application form.
