The College of Nursing Philosophy and Conceptual Framework are introduced and explained as the foundation of the baccalaureate program . Emphasis is placed on professional values in relation to the students’ professional development. COURSE OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this course the student will be able to: 1. Explain selected historical events, social trends and the views of nursing leaders as these relate to the profession of nursing in its evolution as a subsystem of health care. 2. Discuss the rational for using the College of Nursing Philosophy and Conceptual Framework, along with general systems theory, as foundation elements for beginning level professional nursing practice. 3. Discuss professional role expectations and competencies in relation to educational preparation. 4. Discuss professional values as a basis for professional nursing practice. 5.
