Unformatted text preview: Statistics 133 - Homework 1 due 11pm Thursday, Sep. 10 on bSpace Flight Delay Data Have you ever wondered what time of day has the fewest delayed flights? How about which airline has the best on-time performance? The Bureau of Transportation Statistics collects information about all domestic air travel. The (huge) database concerning on-time performance is at http://www.transtats.bts.gov/Fields.asp?Table_ID=236 . For this homework, we will look at a smaller (but still sizeable) portion of this data, consisting of flights departing from Oakland (OAK) or San Francisco (SFO) for the years 2006, 2007, and 2008. Your task for this and all future full-length homeworks is to 1) carry out your analysis using R or the relevant tools, then 2) write up your findings in a short report. You will turn in a single file containing your report, with any code listed as an appendix to the report.
