Unformatted text preview: Statistics 133 - Short Assignment 5 due on bSpace at 11pm Monday, Nov. 24 Baseball: Team Names and Player Salaries The Baseball Data Bank ( http://www.baseball-databank.org/ ) is run by a group of volunteers who collect data about the sport of baseball, including historical data. In this homework you will interact with an SQL database containing data from this group. In particular, you’ll answer two sets of questions, one set about teams and another about player salaries. Note: Be sure to copy your SQL commands into a text editor so you can include them in an appendix in your final report. In fact, you may find it easier just to write the SQL statements in the text editor rather than at the MySQL command line, and then copy them over. To access the database, remotely log into the statistics department machine springer.berkeley. edu using the user name and password you’ve been assigned for this class. Once you are logged in, type mysql -u stat133 -p and then enter the password T0pSecr3t when prompted. (The second character is a zero.) Take a look at the databases using SHOW DATABASES; .
